Growing Manvers firm sets on latest apprentice
A Rotherham-based marquee and gazebo manufacturer has expanded its marketing department with the appointment of a new apprentice after a period of business growth.
Shannon Kelly, 18, of Thurnscoe, has joined Gala Tent on a one year business administration apprenticeship run by training provider Create Skills Ltd. The former Wath Sixth Form College pupil applied for the apprenticeship position to develop her business skills and give her the foundations she needs to launch her career.
She said: “It’s great to be able to study whilst working as I will gain valuable work experience whilst still gaining further qualifications.
“Everyone at Gala Tent has made me feel really welcome and I’ve really enjoyed the job so far, hopefully I’ll be able to make an impact in my role.”
Over the past 12 months Gala Tent has seen a sharp increase in sales and a 20 per cent overall growth in business. The company has expanded internationally, securing eleven international distributors in a year.
Managing director Jason Mace said: “The past 12 months has been an incredibly busy period for Gala Tent, we have managed to expand the brand internationally and extend our printing services. We decided to employ an apprentice to support our marketing team, not only because it’s beneficial for our business but because it’s important to give something back and give young people the opportunity to get a foot on the career ladder.”
