As a retailer of many different types of tent, from custom-made stretch tents to heavy-duty gazebos, we know it can be tricky to spot the difference between each one, if you even know which tent is best suited for your application.

This page focuses on the Gala Tent marquee range, and the differences between them, which can help you to make a decision on which marquee to buy. There are three distinct marquee types available to buy at Gala Tent, which are set apart by two main factors; the frame and the covers.

MARQUEE COVERS

There are two types of material used in the covers of a Gala Tent marquee; either 240gsm polyethylene (also known as PE), or super-robust 650gsm PVC.

The PE is a functional, low-cost tarpaulin-like material, treated and coated to ensure it is fully water resistant. It is an ideal party tent covering, as it provides all the shelter you need at a price you can afford.

PVC is much more commercial in its application. The thick, wipe-clean covers are seriously heavy grade, with Dutch Lacing systems to fix the sidewalls to one another. The PVC is used on our premium Gala Tent marquee, and also the grandiose Fusion clearspan marquees, which can stretch to an impressive 9m wide. It would be an ideal wedding marquee cover, or something used by professional marquee hire firms.

MARQUEE FRAME

At Gala Tent, we use only the highest quality materials to produce our marquees, so we do not offer a weakened frame in our budget marquees. The same powder-coated steel framework is used in both our Original PE marquee, and the Elite PVC structure. This framework is up to 44mm in diameter, which provides unrivalled strength, especially in the 6m marquees. This framework can be extended or reduced in size simply by removing sections, giving a great versatile shelter solution.

The Gala Tent Fusion marquee is a cut above, however. A true industrial marquee; it uses 85mm thick aluminium extrusions, tensioning systems and thick ground bars to create the makings of a pre-fabricated building frame. This framework would require at least a small team of people working to putting it up.

So, which of our marquees use which combinations? It’s simple.

Original PE Marquee uses 240gsm PE covers and a powder coated steel framework. Both the marquee frame and covers have a twelve months warranty.

The Elite PVC Marquee uses 650gsm PVC covers and a powder coated steel framework. The frame has a twelve months warranty, the covers have a three years warranty.

The Gala Tent Fusion clearpsan marquee uses 650gsm PVC covers, and commercial grade aluminium framework. Both the frame and covers have a three years warranty on them.
