Sheffield Wednesday FC: A Community Programme Case Study 

Building a Better Community, One Tent at a Time.

Our Fusion modular marquees are the largest type of structure that we supply here at Gala Tent, with their clear span design combined with up-to-9 metres of width making them a perfect shelter for many applications. From agricultural show tents to festival stages, wedding marquees to beer garden housing, the Fusion is a heavyweight and versatile piece of kit. 

We were delighted to have recently supplied a 9m x 12m Fusion to the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme (SWFCCP), which is the charitable operation attached to the EFL Championship team, Sheffield Wednesday. Their grounds are a stone’s throw from the famous Hillsborough stadium, and the facilities are fantastic.

The SWFCCP runs a series of initiatives and sessions designed to provide sporting activities to facilitate community development. Some of these initiatives include Health and Wellbeing, Youth and Integration, Women and Girls, and Employability.  

During the summer, the SWFCCP runs a series of fantastic football camps for youngsters, where they will learn skills from qualified coaches, make friends, and earn themselves prizes and certificates. It doesn’t matter what the skill level is of the youngsters, any boys or girls aged between 5-14 years old can attend, for a very reasonable price. This wonderful initiative is certain to give these youngsters memories that will last a lifetime.  

Not only that, but the programme has partnered this year with cereal brand Kellogg’s, to offer up to 100 free places on their Summer Football Camp.  

Where Gala Tent comes in, is that we have delivered a huge Fusion Marquee to provide a safe, sheltered space for all children before, during and after the footballing sessions. Our sales manager Darren worked alongside Marcus from SWFC to ensure they received something that was the right strength and size for their available space and the purpose they had in mind. The tent is directly next to the gate to the massive training space on the sporting facility, increasing child safety further.  

Within the compound that the marquee sits in, there are to be additional building units, with electricity and potentially even internet capabilities being installed within the Fusion. 

As a total service brand, Gala Tent also arranged for our good friends, the team at Marshall’s Castles, to go and professionally and safely erect the marquee in place, and our company director Andrew personally went to the location to provide product training to the team at SWFCCP to ensure they get the best out of their purchase for as long as possible.  

We’re very proud to have played our part in this project, and will remain on hand to Sheffield Wednesday to provide advice, and any other products they require to facilitate the development of their charity endeavours.
