Gala Tent marquees are for sale in two distinct cover options, which are the low cost and functional 240g Polyethylene (PE), or the heavy duty Elite 650g PVC. Both are by far the thickest and most robust marquee covers currently available in their price range on the UK market.
We use two types of marquee framework; the first is the classic powder-coated steel framework which can be purchased in sizes from the modest 3m x 2m which is perfect for a small garden shelter, to the massive 6m x 24m marquee which can cover around 250 people. The second type of framework we use is the industrial strength T6061 aluminium of our modular, clearspan Fusion Marquee range. Customer feedback and evidential videos show that Gala Tent Marquees can take regular winds of around 35mph when anchored well. The Gala Fusion Modular Marquees, with their pre-fab style framework, will withstand winds of over 55mph, when anchored well.

WHY CHOOSE A MARQUEE OVER A GAZEBO?
There are many options when it comes to cover from the elements; sun awnings and canopies, parasols and pop-up gazebos, and of course the marquee. All of the above are viable and very popular options, and if you were not aware, Gala Tent is also the specialist market leader in pop-up gazebos, so we are well placed to offer genuine, honest benefits to one type of tent over the other.
What a gazebo does better than any other type of tent is allow for incredibly fast deployment. A 4m x 8m Marquee would take you around an hour or so to build, where the 4m x 8m pop-up gazebo would be closer to twenty minutes. After some practice, it is easily possible to pitch a pop-up gazebo in less than five minutes, depending on the size, of course. This kind of benefit is hard to deny, and one of the many reasons that Gala Tent pop-up gazebos fly out of the doors at a rate of knots, but speed isn’t everything. Just ask the hare that went up against the tortoise.
Gazebos can be customised to a much greater extent than a marquee too. Because of the printing processes we use, it isn’t strictly possible to customise much more on a marquee than the end walls, where a gazebo offers unlimited potential for design flair and striking brand colours all over it. Not everybody wants unlimited potential for design flair though, and the marquee absolutely delivers for those that don’t.
What a marquee does better than any other type of tent is allow for sheer mass of space you can cover with one. You’d be hard pressed to find a pop-up gazebo that could cover more than 250 guests over a 270 square metre area, but a marquee can achieve it with ease. A marquee is a portable building that requires no planning permission and only the space to put one up.
It is a subjective thing, but a marquee also looks more elegant, and classy than a gazebo. An unprinted gazebo is a loyal servant that will perform its job and more for many, many years, without ever asking for too much in return. A marquee is a status symbol. A blank canvas for you to paint your personality all over for your wedding, or to fill with star curtains and stages for the industry awards ceremony, or put up fences and bales and commence the livestock auction beneath.
In terms of price, a marquee can often be cheaper per square metre than a gazebo. The reason for this is that the gazebo is a structurally complex piece of kit, with lots of components available as a single piece. A marquee is the flatpack piece of furniture that looks complicated laid out on the floor, but once it’s up, it’s an eye-catching triumph.
So the answer to the question of whether a marquee is better than a gazebo is that if you’re wanting to cover more people, with a bigger, more luxurious plain tent then the marquee is the choice for you.
